Members 1st FCU Education Award

Members 1st Federal Credit Union is pleased to announce a new award for college students. Six area students residing in, and attending an accredited college, university, or technical school in the local Members 1st FCU service area will have the opportunity to compete for the new Members 1st Federal Credit Union Education Award. Members 1st FCU believes that this new award program will not only allow more students the opportunity to receive an award to help with educational expenses, but it will also offer greater reward for the students in that they will obtain valuable work experience.

In order to be eligible to apply for the award, students must meet the following qualifications and provisions:

  • Must be currently enrolled full-time and attending a local college, university, or technical school
  • Must be able to provide proof of full-time enrollment following the summer work experience
  • Must have a minimum 2.50 GPA (on a 4.00 scale) at the time of application and prior to beginning work experience
  • Must agree to complete an official 10 week compensated summer work experience with Members 1st
  • Must be willing to participate in a paid training program prior to the summer work experience
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule during the summer work experience
  • Must possess a strong work ethic and be conscientious
  • Must demonstrate good character and citizenship
  • Must possess general and business knowledge equivalent to a high school diploma
  • Must possess good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must have good organizational skills and a strong math aptitude

In order to receive the Members 1st Federal Credit Union Education Award, applicants must be willing to:

  • Attend an official award recipients' meeting prior to beginning the summer work experience
  • Attend the Members 1st Federal Credit Union Education Award Luncheon to receive their award
  • Serve as a student advisor for one full year after their summer work experience
  • Participate in focus group discussions throughout the following academic year
  • Allow Members 1st to publicize the award, video clip the award presentation and advertise it on the Members 1st website
